Traffic to irishtimes.com is at record levels with local and international audiences surpassing those received during major news events such as general elections, referendums and extreme weather conditions.
Week commencing 16th of March saw the Irishtimes.com recording 26 million page views across web and app, their second highest week on record, this was only beaten by the week previous which recorded 28.5 million page views across web and app.
Whilst stories on COVID- 19 dominate, the site is also getting significant interest in Food, Life & Style, and Business content. Life & Style recorded their 2nd highest traffic week ever.
Newspaper sales and volumes have been maintained with some day’s having significant positive lifts. Supply has been redirected from city centre to suburban retail outlets where footfall is very high and newspaper sales are performing well. They have also increased their audience’s focus on the e-paper and launched a campaign highlighting all the ways people can receive The Irish Times both in print and online.
In addition, The Irish Times Home Delivery business has seen a significant uplift in volumes with over 850+ new customers added since the start of the year. Their single biggest challenge is to respond to the demand pipeline of customers who want to join the network and they are increasing resources to meet the demand.
Finally, the publisher’s digital subscription service has seen major growth with an additional 8,000 customers since January 2020. This is a huge success for the title who believe it reflects the strength of their readers’ confidence in the brand as a trusted source for news and information.
