NewsBrands Ireland is the representative organisation for Ireland’s national news publishers.

Guided by a vision to ensure a vibrant, sustainable, and independent news publishing sector, we champion the essential role of trusted journalism in safeguarding democracy.

Rooted in the core values of trust, accountability, authority, and innovation, NewsBrands Ireland is dedicated to being the leading voice on issues concerning Irish media and journalism. We actively advocates for the value and importance of professional journalism to government, regulators, digital platforms, industry bodies, and other stakeholders whose work intersects with the publishing landscape.

NewsBrands Ireland’s remit is focused on three key pillars:

Public Policy –Engaging with government and policymakers on legislative and regulatory matters affecting the industry, including press freedom, copyright, artificial intelligence, and media sustainability.
Advertising –Promoting the power and effectiveness of advertising in trusted news environments, across both print and digital platforms.
Promotion of News Literacy and Journalism –Showcasing the positive  impact of  journalism through initiatives such as the Journalism Matters campaign, the annual Irish Journalism Awards, and Young Journalist Ireland—a news literacy and journalism programme for Transition Year secondary school students.
