Irish Examiner and PepsiCo partner for International Women’s Day
The Irish Examiner was delighted to partner with PepsiCo to celebrate International Women’s Day for the second year in a row. To compliment and support the initiative, the Examiner looked to secure a partner, whose ethos and ideals mirrored and reflected those of what they are endeavouring to achieve.
The event was a celebration of diversity and empowerment under the theme “Inspire Inclusion”, where keynote speaker Sinead Kane, known for her incredible resilience and achievements, shared her remarkable journey of overcoming obstacles and breaking barriers. Hosted by MC Esther McCarthy, the panel discussion featured prominent voices in various fields, including Laura Dowling, renowned as the “Fabulous Pharmacist,” Pamela Uba, the trailblazing Miss Ireland, and Clodagh Finn, esteemed columnist for the Irish Examiner. Each panellist brought their unique perspectives, highlighting the importance of inclusion and representation in today’s society.
During the event, Dearbhla Gannon from PepsiCo took to the stage to emphasize the company’s commitment to inclusion and diversity. She shed light on PepsiCo’s investment in fostering a culture of inclusivity through their various diversity and inclusion groups. These initiatives aim to create a workplace where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. By championing diversity in all its forms, PepsiCo is not only enriching its corporate culture but also setting a positive example for the broader business community.
In alignment with the values of sustainability and environmental consciousness, the Irish Examiner took a proactive approach to minimize the event’s ecological footprint. From carefully curated menus featuring locally sourced ingredients to eco-friendly goodie bags and sustainable event management practices. As part of their commitment to environmental stewardship, the Examiner proudly offset carbon emissions generated by the event by planting 50 trees at Curraghmore Farm in Kerry, contributing to the preservation of our natural environment for future generations.
‘At PepsiCo we believe our ongoing partnership with the Irish Examiner for International Women’s Day, reenforces our commitment to support and promote our robust Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agenda. We look to support women to build successful and fulfilling careers through our WIN (Women’s inclusion Network) ERG which has led to many impactful initiatives. Our partnership enables us to support this important agenda and helps to spread the word to a wider external audience’. Clodagh Thompson, Communications Manager, PepsiCo Ireland.
