NewsBrands Ireland’ s annual Media Planning Competition will take place on October 22nd in the Morrison Hotel, Ormond Quay.

Teams of junior planners with less than three years experience from Ireland’s leading media agencies will be invited to participate in the day-long competition which challenges teams to devise strategies to showcase the range and effectiveness of the various print and online platforms that make up NewsBrands Ireland.

On the day of the competition, each team will be given a brief and five hours to prepare their strategies and plans whilst representatives from the various NewsBrands Ireland advertising departments are on hand to provide information about their products and answer questions.

The day will commence with a variety of presentations concerning the effectiveness and reach of news brands content including an overview from Denise Turner, Insight Director with NewsWorks UK, of recent research undertaken by her organisation.

The day will culminate with a presentation by each team to the judging panel which will include Judging Panel Chair, Peter McPartlin, former MediaCom CEO, and NewsWorks’ Denise Turner.

The teams will be judged on the basis of five criteria: Interpretation of the Brief; Strategic Thinking; Best Use of the Medium; Use of Budget; and Presentation Skills.
