There is a new crisis sweeping our nation, the cost of living. While consumers face increasing financial pressures, brands must adapt to stay relevant and accessible, and journalists must provide content to inform and educate their readers.

In response, Mediahuis created an exclusive editorially led initiative, Switching Saturday. An exclusive 16-page guide focused on helping readers save money by switching utility bills and accounts published in Irish Independent and independent.ie. Covering all the key monthly household utilities, a team of experts, including Charlie Weston, Sinead Ryan, Adrian Weckler, Eddie Cunningham, and John Cradden, guided readers in how best to adjust their regular household charges to maximise their savings with a minimum fuss.

The guide helped readers switch utilities and save money while providing a trusted advertising platform for brands. Mediahuis partnered with top brands on the initiative including Bord Gais, An Post, and Laya Healthcare, who told their story through a contextual placement to a weekly audience of 877,100 readers (TGI ROI 2022).

Switching Saturday is part of a regular rotation of expert-led features from the Mediahuis stable of publications. Each feature provides a highly engaged audience for brands through contextual advertising. For more information on upcoming feature opportunities, contact Terri Byrne at tbyrne@mediahuis.ie.
