The Irish Examiner zeros in on Sustainability
Moving with the seasons, the Irish Examiner has turned its focus to the great outdoors with its newly launched Outdoors vertical in the Lifestyle section curating a wealth of information on this popular topic. Whether it is browsing 100 interactive trail maps to discover around Ireland, broadening their understanding of fresh focuses such as biodiversity and climate issues, or considering the opinions and advice provided by new columnists, Juanita Brown and Anja Murray, there is something to engage every reader in the new Outdoors section.
Dovetailing with this exciting development is a rich calendar of supporting features and special reports, beginning with Sustainability Week which ran in May and culminated in a ‘Getting to Grips with Biodiversity’ A5 booklet in partnership with the National Biodiversity Centre and Gas Networks Ireland.
Ocean Week, 6th – 11th June, continues the environmental focus by inviting the Irish Examiner audience to dive into a wealth of content on themes such as Renewable Energy and Coastal Communities. Having commissioned images and footage of Coastal Communities across Munster, these beautiful snapshots of coastal life will be shared through panoramic spreads and immersive read across the week.
On Friday 17th June, the Irish Examiner features a ‘Renewable Island’ special report and online hub feature in-depth interviews and profiles of the leading companies investing in key renewable energy sectors including solar, bio and ocean energy technologies, renewable gas as well as emerging technologies, such as battery storage and hydrogen. Industry contributors will outline why global investors see such potential across all sectors of renewable energy in Ireland, Europe’s westernmost Atlantic outpost, wherein the deep harbours and protected inlets offer unique opportunities for clean, green energy.
The series is capped off with Sustainable Food Special Weekend on 26th June which features an ieFood Weekend magazine focused on the Top 50 Sustainable Food Producers in Ireland and packed with sustainable recipes, advice on sourcing sustainable brands along with tips on how to reduce food waste.
