To mark #IWD2022, some of Ireland’s top women editors and journalists met for a discussion on journalism’s role in highlighting key issues and to look back at how far the industry has come.

Speaking on the panel were Irish Daily Mail features editor Linda Maher, Editor of Irish Country Living magazine Amii McKeever, Head of Editorial Development with the Irish Examiner Sheila O’ Reilly and Dr.Rebecca Whittington, Head of Online Safety with Reach UK & Ireland.

The discussion was moderated by Business Post magazine editor Nadine O’ Regan

Entitled ‘Amplifying Women’s Voices: How Journalism’s Role is More Crucial Than Ever’- the discussion focused on the power of journalism in highlighting issues which affect women such as the Cervical Check scandal, Mother & Baby homes, and Repeal campaign. It also focused on the need for a gender balanced newsroom and the media’s role in covering gender sensitive issues.
