New TV advertising campaign unveiled for TheSun.ie

October 3, 2022

‘It’s TheSun.ie Time’ concept shows the lengths some people will go to find more time to read TheSun.ie to enjoy a burst of sheer unadulterated entertainment that brightens up their day

Three x 20 second ads begin airing this week

The Irish Sun has unveiled a new TV campaign that positions its website, TheSun.ie, as the number one choice online for news, sport and showbiz gossip.

TheSun.ie has had significant growth over the past 12 months, with monthly users increasing by 7 per cent from July 2021 to the end of July 2022. Over the same period page views also grew by an impressive 25 per cent.

The campaign, entitled ‘It’s TheSun.ie Time’, highlights the fact that The Irish Sun’s uniquely personality-packed content is so attention grabbing that readers will want to find more ways to spend time with it. Featuring three 20 second television executions, each one shows the quirky ways some people have found to make more time to read the great entertaining content on TheSun.ie.

One ad is located in a laundrette, where we see someone washing one sock at a time so they can read more content. Another features someone walking the wrong way up a travelator, while the third, located in a lift, shows a reader stopping at every floor in the building because they want to continue reading TheSun.ie.

Running from this week, the television ads will broadcast on RTE, Virgin Media, Sky, Channel 4, Sky on Demand and YouTube. The TV activity will be supported by 20 second radio executions on UrbanMedia radio stations Dublin’s FM104 and Q102, Cork’s 96FM/C103, Limerick’s Live95FM, Galway Bay FM, WLR in Waterford and LMFM in the north east.

This campaign follows a nationwide marketing burst last June that focused on commuter media such as Outdoor and Radio to provide contextual messaging opportunities for the campaign idea. The latest campaign was developed by News Ireland’s dedicated agency Pulse Creative (a joint-venture between The&Partnership, m/SIX and Wunderman Thompson) and media buying was conducted by Mindshare.

Richard Bogie, Managing Director at News Ireland, publisher of The Irish Sun and The Sun.ie says: “We’re delighted to unveil such a significant television advertising campaign for The Irish Sun and to utilise it to remind readers across the country that we offer brilliant content every day. This campaign is upbeat and entertaining, everything The Irish Sun is about, and one that we know everyone will enjoy.”
