The Irish Sun has unveiled a brand new three part podcast called ‘This is Robert’, which investigates the shooting of postman Robert Delany in October 2008. The attack left Robert with life altering injuries while the man who ordered the shooting remains free.

Narrated by The Irish Sun’s Damien Lane, a veteran journalist who has covered crime in Ireland for over two decades, the three part series tells the story of Tallaght man Robert Delany. Robert was shot in the head at his home in front of his young daughter on the orders of a dissident Republican after he intervened to save a man being beaten outside a Dublin pub two months earlier.

Father of two Robert, who was 27 when he was shot, suffered a catastrophic brain injury and has remained in a permanent life altering state ever since. However, for 17 years, the man who called for Robert to be killed continues to walk free.

Brought to you by the makers of the number one podcasts ‘The Stardust Tragedy’, ‘The Kinahans’ and ‘The Making of a Detective’, This is Robert features interviews with Robert’s parents Noeleen and Terry, his sister Sinead, and his daughters Megan and Katie.

This is Robert premiers on Thursday 29th May with one episode released weekly and is available on all popular podcast platforms.

Fiona Wynne, Editor of The Irish Sun, says: “At The Irish Sun, we are committed to telling the stories that matter, stories that shine a light on injustice. This is Robert is one of the most powerful and personal investigations we’ve undertaken. In this podcast, we speak to Robert’s family and visit Robert in his care home, joining the Delany family in their relentless fight for justice as the man responsible for his shooting continues to walks free. It is a privilege to share Robert’s story.”
