The Irish Farmers Journal now has 295,900 weekly readers on the Island of Ireland according to figures released by Kantar Media (TGI 2020). This is the highest readership figure reported by the Irish Farmers Journal in 20 years – no other agricultural publication has a higher readership across Ireland and the UK. Kantar Media is the global organisation which measures newspaper readership through its annual TGI (Target Group Index) survey which is trusted by the world’s most influential publishers, media owners, agencies and advertisers to provide essential consumer insights and audience profiling.
Justin McCarthy (Editor & CEO, Irish Farmers Journal) said:
“We are delighted to bring to market the highest readership figure for the Irish Farmers Journal in the past 20 years. We remain focused on producing high-quality unique content which is trusted by our readers. With our circulation having recorded double-digit growth since this readership survey was completed, I would like to thank all of our readers and clients for their continued support. As ever, I welcome feedback on how we can further improve both our print and digital offerings.”
IRISH FARMERS JOURNAL ANNOUNCED AS SPONSOR OF RTÉ RADIO 1’S COUNTRYWIDE
In addition, the Irish Farmers Journal was recently announced as the sponsor of RTÉ Radio 1’s Countrywide agricultural affairs programme. Countrywide is on air every Saturday morning on RTÉ Radio 1 from 8am to 9am. The 12-month package includes four sponsor credited stings per show, sponsor credited promos on Morning Ireland & Drivetime plus podcast and homepage sponsorship.
Jamie Leonard (Circulation & Marketing Manager, Irish Farmers Journal) said:
“This is a really exciting period for the Irish Farmers Journal with print readership now at a 20-year high. We doubled down on our marketing activities from the onset of Covid-19 as well as developing a range of added value services for our readers and this has paid enormous dividends through sustained circulation sales growth. This growth encouraged us to make a strategic brand investment in sponsoring RTÉ Radio 1’s Countrywide programme. RTÉ Countrywide shines a spotlight on the issues facing both farmers and those living in rural Ireland every week and it’s a perfect fit for the Irish Farmers Journal.”
