Breaking Views 2024 event from BreakingNews.ie unveils insights for the year ahead
In a successful and insightful event, “Breaking Views 2024,” hosted by Breakingnews.ie editor Michael McAleer, brought together experts from a variety of fields to share valuable perspectives and forecasts for the year ahead.
One highlight was a deep drive into Ireland’s current economic landscape by Eoin Burke-Kennedy, economist correspondent of The Irish Times. Despite the State’s strong underlying financial position, Eoin discussed how this is not necessarily translating to positive public sentiment, with housing supply a major factor in growing public discontent.
Expanding on the housing market challenges, Joanne Geary, managing director of MyHome.ie provided a comprehensive overview of the housing market and the challenges faced by Government in overcoming the supply shortages. Joanne and Eoin also discussed the various policy options being proposed and their potential for success.
Against this backdrop of challenging public sentiment, Fiona Field, managing director of OMD Ireland, explored the dynamic world of advertising, emphasising the strategic importance of ad placements and defining target audiences.
Fiona also explained the implications for advertisers of the upcoming changes to third-party cookies due in autumn this year, and the challenges of measuring effective advertising campaigns. Her expertise provided a roadmap for navigating evolving advertising trends. “Breakingnews.ie as an advertising platform outperforms other channels when it comes to user attention, it is the best one”.
She also addressed the growing challenges in protecting brand security, particularly against the backdrop of growing global upheaval and numerous elections this year.
Much of the election turmoil will take place on the ever-increasing number of social platforms, so business and technology journalist Ciara O’Brien guided attendees through the impact of technology on elections and the risks from Deep Fake and AI. With all the focus on artificial intelligence these days, Ciara also addressed how it might also serve to revive the fortunes of other one-time tech innovations, such as Google Glass and the Metaverse.
Ciara outlined how AI will impact on every facet of our lives soon, but as motoring journalist Neil Briscoe, one of the first sectors to really see its effect may well be the world of motoring. Neil discussed the future of driving, privacy concerns around modern connected cars and sparked thought-provoking conversations amongst the panel about the relevance of electric vehicles to Irish buyers.
TheBreaking Views 2024 event successfully delivered a wealth of knowledge and perspectives, leaving attendees equipped to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the year ahead.
