Breakingnews.ie ‘Breaking Views’ event
Breakingnews.ie held its first ‘Breaking Views’ event last Thursday, January 23rd with a panel of specialist guests seeking to forecast the latest trends and developments for 2023.
Breakingnews.ie editor Michael McAleer was joined at Dublin’s Gibson Hotel by special guest panellists, Gemma Teeling, Managing Director of PHD Ireland, Ciara O’Brien, Technology correspondent for The Irish Times, Neil Briscoe, motoring journalist for Breakingnews.ie and The Irish Times, and Richard Gillis founder of the Sports Business Podcast the ‘Unofficial Partner’.
While Gemma outlined the issues affecting the media landscape this year, Ciara – just back from the mega CES show in Las Vegas – revealed the hot new tech trends for 2023. Neil focused on whether electric cars have reached critical mass, while identifying Chinese car brands coming to our roads very soon. Finally, Richard outlined the major sponsorship opportunities – and challenges – in the sports market right now, and why women’s football is much better defining itself as different from its male counterpart.
Michael McAleer said: “It was great to see a full house, with only standing room at the back for what was a fascinating discussion that seemed to really engage the audience. Hopefully we offered some useful insights. We certainly intend to host similar events in the future.”
Claire O’Flynn, Head of Agency Solutions at The Irish Times & the Irish Examiner Group said: It was fantastic to welcome both our agency partners and clients to our first event and we thank all in attendance for their support, the insights created a real buzz in the room, that stimulated conversations long afterwards. We are looking forward to our next Breaking Views event.
