• 8% increase in agency ad spend
  • Mediavest win Number One Agency award and record the highest increase
  • MEC record highest percentage increase

23 March 2016 – Advertising spend across NewsBrands Ireland print and digital platforms increased by nearly 5.5% in 2015 with spend by advertising agencies increasing by over 8% to €98.4m.   This represents an acceleration of growth following an increase of 3.6% in the first half of the year.

A total of €164.5 million was spent on advertising in 2015, €66 million of that from direct sources.

Welcoming the figures, Vincent Crowley, chairman NewsBrands Ireland said “newspapers in all formats drive the national agenda and provide unrivalled commentary and analysis.    Our growing multi-platform audience is engaged and influenced by our content, which creates an effective environment for advertising messages.  This significant increase in advertising revenues in 2015 is strong proof of this,” concluded Mr Crowley.

The annual League Table, which ranks agencies by spend, was also published.

The award for highest spend was, once again, won by Mediavest. The agency invested €14.3m on advertising with NewsBrands Ireland, a €2.6m increase on the previous year, which also secured them the award for highest increase in spend.

MEC meanwhile recorded the highest percentage increase at almost 92%.

Other agencies that recorded significant year on year increases were Mediaworks(40%), PHD (45%) and Maxus (37%).
