Journalists perform a hugely important function in helping society to value the truth.  They expose those who make crime their everyday work and also give a clear voice to the victims of crime.

A free press remains the indispensable means of keeping the public informed, exposing wrong doing and holding those in positions of power accountable.   It is vital that all journalists working for a free press are enabled to carry out their duties without fear and intimidation.
