Irish Mirror’s ‘The Back Page’ Podcast records milestone 50th episode

The Irish Mirror Sports podcast, backed by Ladbrokes, celebrated reaching the milestone 50th episode recently by offering listeners the chance to win a free €50 online bet.

The weekly podcast, which is hosted by Shane Stapleton alongside a panel of experts including Irish Mirror Sports Writers and top tipsters from Ladbrokes, is the first podcast product for the Irish Mirror.

During the 50 episodes, the panel has been joined by a whole host of sporting names including All-Ireland winner Bernard Flynn and top jockey Sean Flynn, golf expert Gary Murphy as well as special guest phone-ins.

Alison White, Retail Marketing Manager for Ladbrokes said: “We began the partnership with Mirror Media in early 2018 and they did a tremendous job launching The Back Page weekly podcast.  Thanks to the streamlined processes, the support and effort contributed by the team, we saw a concept mature into something that our customers really enjoy.  A fantastic job has been done to ensure listeners remain engaged week to week and content remains relevant to the sporting customer.”

The long-term sponsorship deal, which was brokered by Starcom, includes press, digital and social promotion of each episode across the Mirror Sport network. Last month, the Irish Mirror’s online fanbase consumed over 2 million pages of sporting content (source: Google Analytics, September 2018).

The podcast lives within a branded content hub on Irish Mirror Sport online and all episodes are also available on iTunes, Spotify and Stitcher.
